San Giovanni Castle
The castle rises up on a sheer rocky spur on Lake Idro, strategic position controlling the entrance to the Giudicarie territory.

The strategic area the castle dominated was a delicate boundary territory of the episcopal dominions of Trentino.
Feud of the Lodróns since the XIII century, it remained possession of the powerful family continuously until the XXth century.
In the 50s San Giovanni Castle was purchased by the new owners who started remarkable works of restoration.
Currently the castle is property of the municipality and is in an excellent state of preservation.
