Fort Corno Werk Corno

[ Soprintendenza per i beni culturali]

This fort was situated 1069 metres above sea level towards the right of the Chiese Valley, which checked from above the Daone branch by acting as a tenaille with Fort Carriola on the opposite side of the valley. They built a dome-shaped rotating, steel-armoured gun and armours for the cannons based on the “Vogl” style, with the aim of further developing the barrages of Lardaro, which consisted of the Larino, Danzolino and Revegler forts.
Before the conflict it was disarmed because it was thought to be obsolete. The cannons were placed in a cave nearby, while the dome-shaped gun was placed overlooking Peschiera. At present, restorers are working on it.
