Fort Garda | Werk Garda
It is situated in an area slightly withdrawn from the edge of Mount Brione and blends in with the terrain, camouflaging itself, making it almost undistinguishable.
In German it is called “Werk Garda”, which was characterised by the modern construction which was built using large quantities of compressed concrete supported by steel grids. Therefore, it lacked any decorative elements and consistent armaments. It is situated in an area slightly withdrawn from the edge of Mount Brione and blends in with the terrain, camouflaging itself, making it almost undistinguishable. The fort functioned in conjunction with the nearby “Battery Mortar”, which had 15cm mortars in barbettes and an armoured telescope. During the First World War it was partially disarmed.
