Absorbed in the landscape. A comparison of Views in the Art Gallery evokes part of the title of an exhibition, that the MAG (North Garda Museum) dedicated in 2015 to a selection of works by Nordic painters on the Lake Garda between ‘800 and ‘900. In the case of this specific project scheduled for 2016, Absorbed in the landscape, beyond being the title of an exhibition or of a section, becomes the name of a score which pervades transversally the MAG Art Gallery, of the thematics which unravel along the halls of the whole first floor of the Museum.

The subtitle, A comparison of views, appears as a key to reading the exposition path – a key, which does not want to be the only one inside the Art Gallery, but suggests an opportunity to advance into the spaces, coming just across views, but also visions and interpretations of the landscape through the centuries and the languages of painting and cartography, of engraving and drawing, of historical and contemporary photography.

This exhibition of the MAG Art Gallery - showing the historical works of the Museum collections along with the new acquisitions of paintings and original forays into genres belonging to its own heritage - pursues the aim of suggesting a series of meetings and comparisons – aesthetic, emotional, evocative.
