Written by Manuel Puig in exile during the Argentinean dictatorship, The Kiss of the Spider Woman recounts the forced coexistence of two men in a prison cell: a political dissident, loyal to the subversive cause, and an incurable romantic man, homosexual and in love with film stars.

This is the basis for our staging, which focuses on the strategies that the two protagonists, who are at first sight incompatible, implement to survive in their obstinate desire to meet and recognise each other. The world of one of them sinks into that of the other, in the common escape of visions and dreams that take shape in the nights of imprisonment.

Worlds at odds with each other draw closer together, sometimes with surprising tenderness. That thread that weaves their lives together and is created when the walls between them are broken down, if on the one hand involves them in an unexpected mutual affection, on the other it unconsciously ensnares them in the web of a ruthless power.
