European Festival of taste

It’s a three-day-event to celebrate the return of the cattle from the Summer alpine pastures, and to taste local products as well as products from other Italian regions or from abroad. Their common thread is the old railway… 

PROGRAMME

Friday 2nd October

5 pm, Aula Magna in the Town Hall of Predazzo: opening ceremony of the European Festival of Taste. Pledge by the Authorities and presentation of the program.

The International Association "Azione Borghi Europei del Gusto" tells its European experiences.

Presentation of the exhibition "Artistic meeting Predazzo-Hallbergmoos (D)" at the Sala Rosa of the Town Hall of Predazzo.

Opening of the exhibition "The Tramway of Avisio, 1891-1916, Memories and Hopes" at the Scuola Alpina della Guardia di Finanza of Predazzo by the Transdolomites Association and presentation of the book by Giuliano Poier "Tramvia Avisiana".

Opening of the Exhibition "Meet Your Landscape – Fassa" by Piano Giovani di Zona Val Di Fassa “La Risola”. The exhibition will be held at the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo.

Marcella Morandini, Dolomiti UNESCO Foundation, presents "Dolomiti 2040: proposals and ideas".

8.30 pm,  Aula Magna of the Town Hall of Predazzo: Gian Luca Gasca presents his experience lived thanks to the Project “Digital Mountains". Travel story uo and down the Alps, from Trieste to Nice, using only public means of transport and his legs to prove one can move in a sustainable way even in a wild territory like the Alps'. The project is sponsored by CAI Centrale, in cooperation with MUSE of Trento and Dolomites UNESCO.

Saturday 3rd October 

8 am: starting of the E- bike tour - Stage 1

8.30 am: visit to the vineyards, cellars and distilleries (with tasting) of Cembrani DOC with Bruno Sganga and the Association Luigi Veronelli. Meeting at the shop Zanotelli (in Cembra). Total cost: € 35 per person, lunch included; € 28 for FiemmE-motion holders.

9 am: opening of the European Festival of Taste in the main square of Predazzo Piazza SS. Filippo e Giacomo.

9.30 am: International meeting of the delegates of the International Association "Azione Borghi Europei del Gusto", at the Aula Magna of the Town Hall of Predazzo.

10 am: opening of the exhibitions on Railway Modelling at the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo.

10 am – 3 pm:  “Little Train of Taste”, food&drink route in the old town centre of Predazzo, starting from Via Garibaldi towards the old Railway station E. Sottsass (cheese tasting), the fountain of Travai (Speck tasting), fountain Fiera (strudel tasting), fountain Somaila (flinchi tasting) and back to Piazza S.S. Filippo e Giacomo, where there will be refreshment points (tastings with fee) that can be reached by bike, e-bike (bike sharing) or by foot. 

2.30- 4 pm: Caserada (cheese making) and workshops for children in Piazza SS. Filippo e Giacomo.

4-6 pm:  show-cooking at the European Festival of Taste in the main square. Participation of the hotelier schools of Fiemme and Valsugana. 

6 pm: showing of the video exhibition "Welcome on board: the gusto of travelling by train” at the Aula Magna of the Town Hall of Predazzo. 

from 7 pm: Oktoberfest im Fleimstal. Big party in Bavarian style at the party tent in Löse (at the beginning of the country land of Predazzo). Dinner, music and dances.

Sunday 4th October

8 am: starting of the E- bike tour - Stage 2

9 am: opening of the stands Festival of Taste and Farmer's Market in Piazza SS. Filippo e Giacomo.

10 am: Desmontegada de le vache – Predazzo welcomes the cows coming back from the summer mountain pastures; parade along the main roads to the party tent in Löse.

12 am: typical lunch at the party tent. Later on: folk music and awards ceremony with the farms taking part at the event.
