FAI Autumn days 2019
Like water that flows - Calavino in history: its parish church, "avvolti", and windmills

The Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the National Trust of Italy) presents the FAI Autumn days 2019, and offers free guided tours to the three main quarters of Calavino: the rione Piazza (quarter of the town square) with the parish church of the Assunta and the War Memorial; the rione di Bagnòl (Bagnòl quarter) with the spring of the Bus Foràm, the church of the Trinità and the rione Mas (Mas quarter) with its "avvolti" (basements with storage cellar) of Medieval structure, which bring to mind the ancient trades of the peasant civilization.
Calavino consists of the quarters called Mas, Bagnol and Piazza and is located at 409 m asl. on the western slopes of the Monte Bondone mountain, at the entrance of the Cavedine valley.
Calavino is located amidst vineyards and orchards and has preserved its traditional rural Trentino charm. In the upper part of the village still today a rural-lordly architecture can be noticed at the Renaissance buildings. In the lower village part a medieval architectural style dominates. Several mills, smithies and workshops can be found here. Worth seeing is the Palazzo Negri di San Pietro, which dominates the villagescape. This residence has a little tower and a curtain wall, which encloses a garden, a chapel and a vineyard.
