Floating colours: the marbled paper between the East and the West
The current exhibition at the Stenico Castle tells the story of the marbled paper over the centuries.

The method of marbling originated in Japan in the 12th century, was developed in the Islamic World and eventually spread throughout Europe during the 16th century.
Through a selection of marbled papers and old books with marbled endpapers and covers, the exhibition reveals curious and little known aspects of this ancient and fascinating art.
A video shows the several methods for marbling and explains how it has been used for decoration, bookbinding and even divination. Workshops will be held to try different techniques for making marbled paper.
