Free guided tours to the exhibition "Sguardi sulla montagna: verso i 150 anni della SAT (1872-2022)

“Sguardi sulla montagna: verso i 150 anni della Sat (1872-2022)” (Glimpses on the mountain: towards the 150th anniversary of the S.A.T. Alpine Club - 1872/2022) is an exhibition promoted together with the Alpine Club of Trento, which recounts how the mountain has been perceived in Trentino from the second half of the 19th century to the present day.
Photographic material is used extensively and recounts the glances of some of the great mountaineers, photographers and travellers, who were the first ones to look at the mountains of Trentino as a land to be climbed and photographed: John Ball, Francis Fox Tuckett, Douglas W. Freshfield, Paul Grohmann, Julius Payer, Giovanni Battista Unterveger, Giuseppe Garbari, Giovanni Pedrotti and Giovanni Battista Trener.
The first exhibition stations reveal the adventure of the first Victorian mountaineers, the desire to conquer the summit, the birth of the S.A.T. Alpine Club and its links with Trentino photographers, irredentist tendencies and border issues, the construction of the first refuges, the birth of tourism, the outbreak of war and the theme of reconstruction.
Other exhibition stations - thanks to the Pedrotti brothers' work - make use of audiovisual media, and convey the different perceptions of the mountain: the gaze of the mountaineer, the mountain man and the tourist. These sections also depict the themes of the great mountaineering exploits of the post-war period, the search for extreme difficulty in the mountains and other central themes for understanding the relationship between man and the Alpine environment.
The tenth station is dedicated to choral singing, a tradition that is very much felt and particularly widespread within the S.A.T. Alpine Club, especially in its sections.
The exhibition ends with a final station to reflect on the relevance of the 150th anniversary of the S.A.T.
