From the basilica to the cathedral

The itinerary on Saturday 19th March will lead to the discovery of the history and secrets of the Cathedral Square and Saint Vigilius Cathedral. The itinerary will start with the visit at the early Christian basilica of Saint Vigilius – a building which was probably erected towards the end of the 4th Century – to extend then the look to the existing Cathedral, which Prince-Bishop Federico Vanga ordered to build as from 1212. The itinerary will examine also the transformation, that the areas bordering the Cathedral underwent in the centuries: the Cathedral Square, Piazza D’Arogno (D’Arogno Square) and via Verdi (Verdi Street).
