Guided visit to the Italian war history Museum - Rovereto

Cultural exhibitions and events , Guided tour
[ Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra]

The guided visit offers the opportunity to discover the extraordinary heritage preserved inside the War Museum, housed inside the castle of Rovereto, which - with its mighty towers - is testimony to the Venetian presence in southern Trentino between the 15th and 16th centuries.

Since 1921, the museum has housed objects and evidence of the conflicts between the Risorgimento and the Great War.

Accompanied by a guide, visitors will listen to the story of those events referring to various themes: the transformation in the way of fighting between the two centuries, the experience of soldiers during World War I, and the effects of the conflicts on the civilian population and on the landscape.

Visitors can focus their attention on the most significant objects in the collections and learn about the stories they contain.

In addition to the permanent collections, it is also possible to visit the temporary exhibition Sarajevo 1992-1996. L’assedio più lungo (Sarajevo 1992-1996. The longest siege | Photographs by Mario Boccia), a selection of images taken by photojournalist Mario Boccia during the years when the city remained under siege by Bosnian Serb militias. Shots that recount the war, but offer a glimpse into civilian resistance and the daily lives of the besieged and the besieged. Admission to the exhibition is included in the Museum ticket.
