Better safe than sorry
The myth of Phaeton, frescoed by Romanino in the suggestive loggia of the Magno Palazzo, is an exhortation to caution, which is always valid...
(you can take a small blanket or a mat with you to enjoy the fresco from an original, relaxing perspective!)
> Thursday 11 June at 17.30
Heroes of yesterday, heroes of today
Weapons and equipment of the past echo the heroic ideals of yesteryear. And today, who are the true heroes of our time?
> Friday 12 June at 17.30
Mamma li turchi ("My gosh, zee germans'r coming!")
In the 17th century so-called "Giunta albertiana" (building that joins two parts of the Buonconsiglio Castle: Castelvecchio, the Medieval part, to the Magno Palazzo, the Renaissance part), the decoration of the vault celebrates one of the most distressing, but also glorious events in 17th century European history: the threatening advance of the Ottoman Empire which was triumphantly opposed by an alliance of Christian states. Fear, threat, identity, religion, diversity, conflict: such terms are always topical.
