The song of the Earth – Jazz paraphrase for sextet, reciter and video based on “Das Lied von der Erde” by Gustav Mahler
Text by Giuseppe Calliari
Das Lied von der Erde was composed by Gustav Mahler in Dobbiaco, at his summer residence before his death. In this “Song” of desolation, the eternity is the eternal youth of the nature and the anguish is mitigated by the contemplation of the cyclical course of life.
An imaginary dialogue, a frame and five fragments edited by Giuseppe Calliari, inspired by the texts that were set to music by Mahler.
