Terra Mala is one of the latest important works by Stefano Schirato, a professional photographer known at an international level for his reportage on social issues. The photographic project dedicated to the Land of Fires is therefore part of a long human and professional career, dotted with various awards and recognitions.

Through his photographs, endowed with strong visual impact, Schirato recounts without rhetoric, combining social denunciation and journalism. His images, never trivial and far from simple documentation, speak to people's hearts without the need for words.

Stefano Schirato has also been a stage and backstage photographer for three films by Giuseppe Tornatore La Sconosciuta (2006), Baria (2009) and La migliore offerta (2013). Thanks to these experiences he learned how to deal with different realities, although they all are linked by the attention to our neighbour, whom Schirato meets with curiosity and compassion.

During Friday night 22 March, Schirato will retrace the milestones of his human and professional career, focusing in particular on some works such as: Gli occhi della Cambogia (1999), Né in terra, né in mare. Navi sequestrate (2000-2003), Il Kanun. Occhio per occhio. Vendetta di sangue in Albania (2009-2010), Chernobyl 25: l’ultimo uomo nella Zona rossa (2011), La rotta balcanica (2014-2016), Saharawi (2015), Wakaliwood, la Hollywood d’Uganda 2018.

The story will be enriched by a selection of images and films. At the end of the meeting, the author will be available for questions and for a book signing session.
