The itinerary will guide participants to discover the first Christian places of worship that arose in the city of Trento.
After illustrating the cultural context of Trento at the time of the establishment of Christianity, the itinerary will wind its way through the excavations of the early Christian basilica and will then reach the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, which was rebuilt at the behest of Prince-Bishop Bernardo Cles on the site of the city's church.

Over the centuries, these two monumental buildings have served as the centres of religious life in the Trentino diocese: the early Christian basilica, whose original nucleus dates back to Saint Vigilius, the city's patron saint, was initially used as a memorial and cemetery and later became a cathedral; the church of Santa Maria Maggiore was built on the remains of the ancient Ecclesia, built by Viglio himself within the city walls, as the bishop's seat.
