Women at war

The space dedicated to photography in Torrione Malipiero hosts a selection of women images taken from the museum picture library.
The photographies are of women represented in social roles deeply affected by war (wives or mothers without the husband support, refugees, widows), caught in old and new scenarios (bearers, construction workers, laundresses, day labourer), in harsh but gratifying roles like the nurse or in landscapes of destruction.
Images, or better experiences that offer the chance to reflect about the complexity of social and cultural transformations which took place during I World War.
