Enjoying art comfortably at the museum: aperitif and “Back to the origins of the gift"

Enjoying art comfortably at the museum: aperitif and “Back to the origins of the gift” is the first event of the cultural project ComodaMENTEinMUSEO. Aperitivi d’arte: "Alle origini del dono", related to the exhibition “Precious gifts: images and objects from the museum's collection”, which has been on display at the Buonconsiglio Castle since December 2014.

It’s an experience to discover the museum’s archaeological collection, a selection of items belonging to five millennia of history, to let us know how the gift’s social value has changed over time.

In fact, since prehistoric times the gift has had a meaningful social value: precious gifts have ever been given to strengthen friendships, to build alliances or to show off one’s wealth; some are precious ornaments, some others are arms, war booties, or God’s gifts, or either gifts for the deceased,etc.

Buonconsiglio Castle

The Buonconsiglio Castle is the largest and most important monumental complex of the Trentino Alto Adige region. It was the residence of the prince-bishops of Trento from the 13th century to the end of the 18th century. Castelvecchio is the oldest nucleus; the Magno Palazzo is the 16th century expansion and is one of the most sumptuous Renaissance-style palaces in Italy.
