40th Festival Pergine Spettacolo Aperto
Forever Young
Pergine Spettacolo Aperto turns forty this year. It’s time to think about growing older and to face a thorny issue: life is a journey? in which birth and death have pivotal meanings.
The symbol of the 2015 festival is the Turritopsis nutricula, also known as “the immortal jellyfish”. This creature is able to revert its biological life cycle back to an earlier stage. This tiny sea creature represents the dreams, hopes and fears of modern man.
Contemporary western society is seduced by the myth of eternal youth, looking for a way to suspend time like the timeless life of Dorian Gray. The beginning and end are considered taboos; they are ignored, isolated in a medical context or hidden in the subconscious. Pergine Spettacolo Aperto wants to reverse this process and focus on the thresholds of life - two moments as important as suggestive. And we invite everyone to take part… in a playful way!
From July 3rd to 11th, performances, installations, site-specific productions, workshops and much more will enliven Pergine city centre. Societas Raffaello Sanzio, Babilonia Teatri, Cie Creature, Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni, Chiara Stoppa, Cinque Allegri Ragazzi Morti and emerging artists will be part of a rich and exciting programme of events. The customary event Vie del sé day will include wellbeing workshops, music, shows and healthy food for the whole family, this will take place in the magnificent setting of Tre Castagni park. Another important event? is the Neuroscienze Show: researchers and experts will discuss scientific aspects concerning the leitmotif of the festival, in the entertaining context of a talk show moderated by the Radio Capital – Parole Note team.
