A Feather in the Wind festival
Four concerts, four meetings, a photographic exhibition, three displays. A new festival dedicated to women, from music to equal opportunities.
A new festival is born in Trento – a festival making room for the art of women. Unique of its kind at regional level and rare example at national level, it is dedicated to female composers and to their music and it uses artistic expression to talk about equal opportunities, to understand the existence, expression and self-assertion of women.
Entitled A Feather in the Wind and organized by Chaminade Cultural Association, the festival will take place in the historic centre of Trento from 4th to 31st March 2016 and proposes four classic chamber concerts, four meetings with special guests, a photographic exhibition and the display of scores by female composers in the libraries of the town centre.
Five traditions animate the festival thanks to the different cultural realities of the town that actively contribute to its realization by making a proposal satisfying plural interests.
In regard to music the festival proposes four classic chamber concerts dedicated to the works by female composers on repertoires from Baroque to the first Twentieth Century through French, Italian, English and German musicians.
As regards visual art, a photographic exhibition about women artists from Trento will be set up from 5th to 31st March - a snap of some women protagonists of the art today on our territory, from poetesses to paintresses, from female musicians to dramatic authoresses, from dancers to sculptresses.
Furthermore, four meetings will be dedicated to the theme of the equal opportunities – some female figures will tell us in an interview the role of women in the field of music, culture, work and society, in the past as well as today.
The festival will also make room for a more specialist chapter with the research and valorization of the scores written by women and preserved in the town archives, as the public library, the library of the Conservatory “F.A. Bonporti” and the Diocesan Library which is today in the Vigilianum.
