August with De Gasperi: protagonist of the Great War

Trentino’s Fondazione Alcide De Gasperi has organised a full programme of events in memory of the statesman (who died on 19 August 1954) to accompany this year’s meeting of the Lectio Degasperiana. The events include theatre, film, performing arts and interviews with witnesses and scholars.

The Fondazione has dedicated numerous events to the Centenary celebrations, remembering the war that affected the Tesino area and the life of the great statesman from Trentino.

On Wednesday August 5, the play Storia di Tonle (Tonle’s Story) will be staged in Pieve Tesino, while the play Tra le Sabbie del Tempo: Alcide De Gasperi nella Grande Guerra (Between the Sands of Time: Alcide De Gasperi in the Great War) will be staged on Wednesday August 12, again in Pieve Tesino. The V. Curzel film Fino a Quando (Until When) will be shown on Friday August 14. La Ricostruzione italiana. Il modello e l’esempio di Alcide De Gasperi  (The Reconstruction of Italy. Alcide De Gasperi’s model and example) is the title of the Lectio degasperiana 2015, which will take place on Tuesday 18 August at 18.00 in Pieve Tesino. The talk will be given by Monsignor Nunzio Galantino, Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference.
On Wednesday August 19, you can watch the show Flagellum Iracundiae in Borgo Valsugana, while on Friday 21 August the documentary L’Occhio Borghese: Il Trentino alla Vigilia della Grande Guerra nella Fotografia di Giovanni Pedrotti (The Bourgeois Eye: Trentino on the Eve of the Great War in the Photographs of Giovanni Pedrotti) will be shown in Pieve Tesino. This is followed by a conference entitled Ricordo dei Profughi del Tesino (Remembering the Refugees of Tesino).
