History Lessons 2017 – Looking at the East

The thousand-year old meeting of cultures that have always been in relation to one other

Meetings and conferences

A new series of History Lessons entitled LOOKING AT THE EAST will take place from October 8th to November 26th in Trento (at the Teatro Sociale and Sala della Filarmonica) and in Rovereto (at the Teatro Zandonai)

The idea is to tell the thousand-year old meeting of cultures that have always been in relation to one other: the East of ancient Rome (Andrea Giardina, Trento – 8 October), Charlemagne’s Asian elephant (Franco Cardini, Rovereto – 15 October) , St. Francis and the Sultan (Amedeo Feniello, Trento – 22 October), Marco Polo’s Cathay (Vito Bianchi, Rovereto – 29 October), the Cabala (Anna Foa, Trento – 5 November), Christopher Columbus’ East (Franco Farinelli, Rovereto – 12 November), Oriental Fashion (Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli, Trento – 19 November), the East of Terror (Domenico Quirico, Rovereto – 26 November).

The History Lessons will not only deal with wars and incursions, but also with several opportunities of fruitful and friendly exchanges.
The Lessons are promoted by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Autonomous Region Trentino-Alto Adige / Südtirol, the Municipality of Trento and the Municipality of Rovereto. Conception by Editori Laterza; support by Casse Rurali Trentine, Cavit, Dolomiti Energia; technical collaboration by the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara.
