History lessons

Italy in war

Meetings and conferences

The challenge of the "History Lessons" is to invite first class historians to deal with history, out of any specialized approach and always putting the narrated facts in different contexts: cultural, but also political, economic and social. Each speaker is chosen for its expertise and originality of ideas, but also for his ability to speak to a broad audience.

For years now, this type of format has been achieving resounding success in many Italian cities: in Rome, in the halls of the Auditorium Parco della Musica, in Milan in the evocative setting of the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, but also in Genoa inside the Palazzo Ducale, at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, just to name a few. In all these cities, prominent historians have dealt with the most important topics of the past in front of a broad and varied audience.

In 2014, for the first time, this formula was also tried abroad with success, especially in London, in collaboration with the local Italian Cultural Institute.

This year, on the occasion of the centenary of the years of the Great War 1914-1918, the History lessons are devoted to the history of those years; Trentino served indeed the cause of World War I. It’s a selection of topics to talk and meditate on some of the innovations and peculiarities of those years, but also on the consequences that have profoundly altered the contemporary geopolitics.
