This is a motto with a double meaning, in that it highlights two crucial functions of art: on one side, art lets us escape from reality; on the other hand it's an opportunity for us to meditate on our life.

The 2017/2018 Opera season is the last part of a trilogy on life. After The Irony of Life and Love and Other Cruelties, this year's Escape from Reality, still focuses on the key issue: What makes us tick?

In other words, why does man act the way he does, is he aware of his own actions, and how does he actually act?

These are the questions that art raises, and they keep on drawing our attention.
