Sentinels of Stone 2023

The forts of Trentino come back to life with music, shows and theatrical readings for all audiences

Drama , Meetings and conferences , Reading , Music

Trentino's rich cultural offer is back with the SENTINELLE DI PIETRA festival, an initiative promoted by the Department for Culture of the Autonomous Province of Trento - Cultural Activities and Production Service -, the Trentino history museum foundation, in collaboration with the Centro Servizi Culturali S. Chiara and the Italian War History Museum of Rovereto.

This is a rich calendar of events with free admission, by companies and artists from the Trentino area (I Teatri Soffiati, Miscele d'aria Factory, Rifiuti Speciali, Chiara Turrini e Beatrice Scartezzini and Il Teatro delle Quisquilie), which from Saturday 29 July to Sunday 10 September will propose music, theatre and readings for all kinds of audiences along 15 forts in Trentino.

Scene of unspeakable human dramas, after intensive building restoration work, the forts of Trentino are once again ready to welcome visitors to experience these places full of history and memory, by immersing themselves in the sounds and scents of the surrounding nature. A not-to-be-missed opportunity to spend a moment of fun, reflection and light-heartedness, moving again through the stories of history, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

The fil rouge of the proposals will be the symbolic reference to the Memorial of the Trentino Fallen of the Great War, established as a memorial site by a provincial law in 2017. A project with a strong symbolic value for the Trentino community because, by reconstructing the names of all the military fallen of the First World War, it represents an operation of re-appropriation and restitution of a memory that would otherwise have risked slipping into oblivion.

The idea of recalling the Memorial stems from the common desire of the Trentino Forts Circuit and the Trentino Great War Network to make their activities converge in the proposal of events that are preparatory to the 110th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.
