The “made in Trentino” meets the most beautiful traditions from the world

At Rovereto Christmas Markets you can find the handicraft of Bethlehem and Belarus, typical products from Trentino, Hungarian sweets and the gluten-free products wooden house, trendy objects of the young creative talents and organic gift ideas.

At Rovereto Christmas Markets the little wooden houses with Christmas fancy goods, handicraft and food come back and are open every day of the week. News of this year is the artists market, dishes for people with celiac disease and a corner for tasting typical products from Trentino. A lot of appointments of Christmas of the peoples: discover the activities that are worth the trip!

The traditional market 

In the heart of the historical centre of Rovereto you will find:

• Painted icons and religious items of the Byelorussian monastery of Sant’Elisabetta di Minsk
• Status for the nativity scene and wooden articles typical of Val Gardena
• Handmade nativity scenes and wooden souvenir, ceramics and glasses of the “Bottega creativa”
• Handmade items in olive-wood from Bethlehem
• Tastes of the culinary tradition of Trentino, as tortel de patate, polenta and spezzatino, codfish alla roveretana, cheese and cured meats cutting boards, canederli, orzotto, strangolapreti, tonco del pontesel with potatoes polenta, stromboli, zelten, strudel, mulled wine.
• Tastes of the international culinary art, such as kurtoskalacs, typical Hungarian sweets, Vienna sausages from Austria, waffels from Belgium

The house of the artistic handicraft of Trentino 

In Piazza Loreto, nearby the entrance of the traditional market, more than 10 handicraft firms from Trentino will participate in the “Bottega artigiana”, which will exhibit the best and most representative of the artistic handicraft made in Trentino.

“Take Hawaii”: The artists market 

Piazzetta Giovanna Maria della Croce, on the corner with Via Tartarotti, the artists market is dedicated to those people who are looking for rarity, of unique and curious objects, of an original Christmas gift. It represents an occasion for meeting the young creative talents under the heading of the new trends: between the stands of this market you will find jewelers, toys, paper goods, art, furniture and illustration.   

The garden of nativity scenes and the house of Christmas

In the garden of Casa Cobelli you will find a suggestive village with the Nativity in the middle and houses dedicated to old crafts. In the same garden your children will find the House of Christmas, a space to listen to tales. The house of Christmas is also the place dedicated to the theme “Build your nativity scene”.

Nativity scenes of the world

Nativity scenes will be on display in a path along the town centre of Rovereto:

• The nativity scene from the International Museum of Nativity of Bethlehem, donated to the City of Rovereto in 2011. The presence in Rovereto of one of this nativity scenes is a symbol of communion between peoples – Piazza San Marco
• The nativity scene made of the boats wood of the migrants of Lampedusa, donated to the City of Rovereto in 2011 – Piazza San Marco
• A characteristic nativity handcrafted scene, that come from the Historic Museum of Cracow – Via Rialto
• Other nativity scenes that come from important Italian collections –  Via della Terra.

Gluten-free products wooden house

Strangolapreti, goulasch with polenta, pie, apple juice, wine: these are the  gluten-free dishes for people with celiac disease. Vallarsa offers alpine hut chopping boards, polenta by the glass, hot soup with bio herbs and vegetables, deer stew and handmade beer from Trentino. The bio district in Val di Gresta offers vegetables soups, potatoes polenta with roe deer and sauerkrauts, carrots pie, biological wines and bitter. At the wooden houses you can also buy typical products from Trentino as gifts. Any example? The wooden houses with biological vegetables from Val di Gresta, the jam with little fruits, the garlic and spinach soup, the fresh truffles, speck, salami and mortadella from Vallarsa.

Christmas of Peoples: towards an horizon of peace

The appointments to remember? The lighting of the tree, symbol of the Christmas of Peoples, with the wooden Nativity handcrafted by the artisans of Val Gardena, the show with the theme welcome at Teatro Zandonai of Rovereto, the reflection on peace inspired by the tolls of Maria Dolens and the concert of Mario Biondi under the dome of Mart.

  Ceremony of the lighting of the Christmas Tree 
  The lighting of the Christmas Tree donated by the town of Vallarsa and located in Piazza Rosmini.  Special guest of the event is the music group Pequeñas Huellas « International Orchestra for Peace ».

During the weekends from 21 November to 24 December you will find itinerant concerts, representations for children, labors for adults and more.
