Clara and Fanny out of the shadows
Concerto for piano four hands and solo voice

Concert that intends to recount the profession of women in music, from the contested hence suppressed one of Fanny Mendelssohn to the recognized and acclaimed one of Clara Schumann.
If Clara’s father, piano teacher, had invested his whole life and expectations in her daughter’s career as a virtuoso pianist, Fanny’s one, even though he had granted her a solid musical education, denied her a potential professional activity by prohibiting firmly the publication of any music sheet composed by her.
In the evening programme the music by Fanny and Clara will be compared to those by two male figures, who were points of reference for the two women: Felix Mendelssohn, the first one’s brother and Robert Schumann, the second one’s husband.
An actress, Silvia Sartorio, will introduce us into their biographies, to reveal us their incredible story.
Music by Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, Clara and Robert Schumann.
Piano duo Chiara Nicora and Ferdinando Baroffio.
Silvia Sartorio, solo voice.
Free entrance.
