Violence against women: the phenomenon, the spread and its consequent social, psychological and economical costs

When women become protagonists in the public eye, in the most cases it happens not for their social, intellectual or artistic achievements, but because they become prey to violence. Violence against women is the most rampant violation of human rights.
Barbara Poggio, professor at the faculty of Sociology of Trento, explains the phenomenon, the spread and its consequent social, psychological and economical costs, whereas Barbara Basterelli witnesses the situation of that in Trento through the activity of the Anti-Violence Centre. Stories of profanation of the sacred, like the body and the soul of each person living in this world: a sad chapter for women – a chapter that needs to be known and rewritten.
