Since 1987 the MontagnaLibri fair, an international showcase dedicated to publishing on the subject of the mountains, has become one of the most popular and varied events at Trento Film Festival, presenting around a thousand books and a programme of daily events with wellknown and successful authors.

 

MontagnaLibri, TrentoFilmfestival’s flagship, is the biggest world exhibition of mountain books:

it brings together and displays the most recently published international books, magazines and multimedia dedicated to the world of the mountains.

Publications deal with the various aspects of the mountains, exploration and adventure providing in-depth information and promoting an understanding of the geographical areas, peoples and cultures.

Here is a hint to the many books on display:

guides: tourist, hiking, mountaineering, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, speleological etc.;

studies and essays: flora, fauna, geography, politics, geology, environment, archaeology, history, war, art, architecture, crafts, philosophy, religion, ethnography, folklore, gastronomy etc.;

photography books;

literary works: novels and poetry set in the mountains;

travel and expedition reports;

books on climbing history;

biographies and autobiographies of climbers.

MontagnaLibri also means a prominent event, namely “Meet the Authors”, which always attracts great interest. Mauro Corona, Erri De Luca, Kurt Diemberger, Reinhold Messner, Dacia Maraini, Susanna Tamaro, Margherita Hack, Siba Shakib, Joe Simpson, Claudio Sabelli Fioretti, Michael Palin, Enrico Brizzi, Marco Albino Ferrari, Syusy Blady e Patrizio Roversi,Mario Tozzi, Tony Wheeler, Andy Holzer, Maria Pia Veladiano are among the many guests, authors and climbers who took part in the past editions of the festival.
