Sacred love and profane love
Ensemble Musica Ricercata performs sacred and profane Cantatas and Sonatas on period instruments

Several women composers, now forgotten, were actually real famous and appreciated at their time. And that is what happened to Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre - infant prodigy welcomed to the Sun King’s court, remembered by her contemporaries as “the wonder of our century” and “the most important women musician in the world” and to Isabella Leonarda, better known as Sister Isabella, named “the muse from Novara” for her excellent voice qualities as well as the first woman in the history of music to publish Trio Sonatas volumes.
A Florentine ensemble will play at this concert some musical passages of both the composers, performing sacred and profane Cantatas and Sonatas on period instruments.
Music by Élisabeth-Claude Jacquet de La Guerre and Isabella Leonarda.
Performing by Ensemble Musica Ricercata.
Free entrance.
