Siror Christmas market

Cultural exhibitions and events
Il mercatino di Natale di Siror [ Strada dei Formaggi delle Dolomiti]

A unique Christmas atmosphere full of colours, lights and flavours.
Along the streets of the town, among fountains, stables, barns and the frescoed façades of houses, you can find typical wooden huts, carefully and elegantly decorated by craftsmen, artists and traders, offering ideas, creations and products in the Christmas tradition.

Today, the Christmas Market has about forty exhibitors who offer their products in characteristic wooden huts or typical vaults, barns and stables along the streets of the town: an attractive spectacular setting for the Christmas Market, which is made even more special with colour effects created by lights, decorations and scenes in the town.

Typical local products include cured meats, "carne fumada de Siror" (smoked meat), typical Christmas cakes called"brazedel" and "zelten", the honey, the wines and grappas of Trentino, felt slippers and hats, handmade chocolates, mulled wine and apple fritters, as well as decorations for Christmas trees, tables, nativity scenes and homes.

Street entertainment can be found at the Christmas Market: accordion players and "zampognari" ("zampogna" bagpipe players), bands, folkdancers, puppeteers, jugglers and fire-eaters. The arrival of Saint Nicholas on December 8th, a tradition that is deeply felt in the valley, is eagerly awaited by young children. Older children ring bells to warn younger children that it is time to go to bed because the "good bishop" will arrive with a basket laden with sweets.
This charming setting is great way to get ready for a truly magical Christmas.
