"Wars 2023: al di là dell'orrore | Beyond horror": exhibition opening at Fort Garda on Saturday 13 May at 11.00

The photographic exhibition, which is the result of the commitment of the MAG and the Cultural Association 46° parallelo in pursuing the same goals related to peace education and citizenship, and on display within the spaces of Fort Garda, emphasises the dramatic consequences of contemporary conflicts on resident populations and the environment.

It consists of thirty photographs by three famous photojournalists: Laurence Geai, Manu Brabo and Giles Clarke, selected from the first two editions of WARS, an international photographic prize created by the Atlas of World Wars and Conflicts and Montura, under the direction of Fabio Bucciarelli.

The conflicts highlighted by these dramatic photos are related to Ukraine, Iraq and Yemen: places that are distant from each other and yet linked and very close in terms of what they represent. These are three wars that show the clear change in the balance of power on the planet where large and medium-sized powers confront each other to redefine their role, their strength.

In addition to recounting the tragedy of each war, these photographs - and so the exhibition - speak of the incredible capacity of human beings to create and seek an everyday life, normality even in the darkest despair.

It will be possible to visit the exhibition during the opening hours of Fort Garda until 15 October 2023.
