"Nature, arte ed ecologia"

“Nature, arte ed ecologia” is the new offer of Galleria Civica di Trento (inauguration on Thursday 29 October at 18) curated by Margherita de Pilati, and offers a polysemous study on ecology through about fifty works of international artist like Matthew Barney, Joseph Beuys, Christo, Tony Cragg, Olafur Eliasson, Petrit Halilaj, Ibrahim Mahama, Antoni Tàpies and great italians, among the others Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Mario Schifano, Willy Verginer and the younger Stefano Cagol, Davide Coltro, Francesco Matuzzi, Arcangelo Sassolino and Elisa Sighicelli. Are also exhibited the works by David Aaron Angeli, Juri Neil, Marco Nones, Michele Parisi, Federico Seppi, to confirm the vocation and especially the bond between Galleria Civica and the territory.

The curator Margherita de Pilati proposes her reflection about the initative, taking the cue from Joseph Beuys' thought: for some time we still have the chance to freely come to a decision, that is following a different flow from the one we went through in the past.
We still can decide to align our intelligence to that of nature.
Along with the concept of Ecology we all know, that is the study of the complex relations that Darwin reported as well, there is another broader one of defense and preservation of the natural environment equilibrium which is nowadays a key-word, a cultural and social mantra.

The system of contemporary art hasn't been indifferent to this ecological need, with the result that a new definiton was created: Ecological Art, as a synonim of Land Art or even on its own.

So here's the choice of the title “Nature”, a word not chosen in its singular version to enhance the focus on more than just a particular meaning of the ecological thought.

Starting from the fascination of some works of the Mart collections, plus various loans coming from private galleries and collections, the exhibit accompanies the visitor along a free path, heterogeneous and non-dogmatic on one of the leitmotivs of the contemporary debate.

Works with strong political content and other more ironic or mainly lyric are placed side by side, in a non-univocal exploration of the man-nature relationship, which has always been subject of analysis and, at the same time, inspiration for scholars, researchers and artists.
