M’ammalia 2022
How are Italian mammals, are they expanding or endangered? This is the question around which revolves the programme of M'ammalia 2022, the initiative organized and coordinated by the Italian Teriological Association (ATIt) throughout Italy and now in its fourteenth year.
A valuable opportunity to raise awareness of mammals, their characteristics, the ecosystems they are part of and their conservation issues.
At the MUSE Science museum, from 25 October to 4 November, the M'ammalia programme includes a meeting dedicated to bats, an open day with many themed activities and the opening of the exhibition "In the Mind of the Wolf," the programme's flagship event featuring Luigi Boitani, Italy's foremost connoisseur and first researcher to study this large carnivore.
In times of climate change and environmental transformations, the situation of Italy's fauna is very dynamic, and while some mammals need urgent conservation action to preserve their fragile populations, others, the most plastic and adaptable, are now a management challenge because of their large numbers.
